Frequently Asked Questions
What type of yoga do you teach?
We teach a hatha yoga inspired by the work of Vanda Scaravelli. She taught that we must first “undo” the tension, so that we can find freedom and space in our bodies. Rather than pushing and pulling into a pose, we must allow our body to “arrive” in the pose.
Is Hatha yoga an aerobic exercise?
No, it is not a vigorous aerobic workout. However, Hatha yoga does demand strength, energy and effort. It can be challenging and rewarding for all levels. Our classes are taught at a pace that allows time for exploration and the time to allow each student to move deeper into each pose at their own stage of development.
Do I need to be flexible?
No experience or flexibility is required to do yoga. Yoga is for everyone and for all body types.
What do I wear to a yoga class and what do I bring?
You should wear comfortable exercise clothing. Light layers would be helpful to adjust to the temperature change one feels during your practice.
We have blankets, bolsters, and belts. However, please bring your own yoga mat, it is more hygienic. We do have yoga mats available if you forget your own.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, cheques and debit card.
Returned cheques will be subject to a $25 administrative charge.
Can I try a class before committing to the session?
Yes, all new students to the studio will have the opportunity to try one week of unlimited classes for a fee of $20. For non-registered students who have attended classes in the past, a drop-in fee of $20 per class is accepted.
Can I join a class once the session has begun?
Yes, if space is available in the class. Your payment will be pro-rated.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, we offer a 10% discount to seniors. Also, for those who register for more than one class per week, a 10% discount will be offered on the additional classes.
How can I stay advised of classes and workshops?
You can join our email mailing list, call the studio or check out our website. We will send out regular announcements of changing classes and workshops through our email mailing list and by notices at the studio.
Can I make up missed classes?
Yes, space permitting.
As a courtesy, you can make up classes in the term that you are registered or you can carry over three missed classes to the following term, provided that the following term is paid in full. Joining a class as a missed class is available only if there is space still remaining in that class. It is always recommended that you inquire ahead to see what classes have spaces available.
We have a small studio so it is advised that you make every effort to make each of your registered classes. |
