  • I Identify

I identify with your struggle, for I struggle too. I identify with your tightness and pain, for I feel it too. I identify with your self consciousness and timidness because I know what it’s like to be so unsure. I hear you; but truthfully, sometimes I have a harder time hearing myself.  And so I practice. My life, my mind and my body can feel so busy.  The to do list continues to grow.  Will it never end? Most days it is difficult to find myself under the layers of school forms, emails, organizing tasks and roles that I must …

  • Clearing

Do not try to save the whole world or do anything grandiose. Instead, create a clearing in the dense forest of your life and wait there patiently, until the song that is your life falls into your own cupped hands and you recognize and greet it.   Only then will you know how to give yourself to this world so worth of rescue.     by Martha Postlewaite

  • CSY Community: Introducing Linda Comire

How did you discover yoga and how long have you been practicing? I was introduced to yoga quite by accident. I had been participating in a Pilates class for a few years, (about 14 years ago), when the owner of the studio asked if anyone would like to try out a yoga class. She was bringing in a few teachers with various backgrounds (some from North America, some from Europe) to do some introductory sessions with members of the studio. I was intrigued, so decided to give it a try. Although they didn’t really explain the philosophy of yoga, I found …

  • The Mindfulness Lectures – A Retrospective by Dr. Treyvaud

I don’t remember the exact circumstances around which Robyn and I first met, the way I also don’t remember the day of my birth. I do know however that there was a day I popped out of my mother’s womb and the full catastrophe of a lived life ensued. I also know that Robyn and I share a common Yoga mother,  Helen Duquette, who still teaches at the Creating Space Yoga studio. When I first met Helen many years ago I discovered that her teaching was unlike anything I had ever encountered before. Although I was deeply steeped in the …

  • The Mindfulness Lectures In Numbers

9 Seasons 22 Lectures 44 Hours 800+ Participants It is hard to believe that we just completed our 3rd year of the Mindfulness Lectures. While the numbers are impressive, what they don’t reveal is the blended magic that has come from combining the Creating Space Yoga community with the Mindfulness Centre community. The product has been an incredible network of like-minded individuals which has created a curious, supportive and growing community. I always walk away impressed by the diversity and intelligence of the group of people that participate each month. I feel very grateful and very proud of the slow …

How did you discover yoga and how long have you been practicing? I discovered yoga – or rather it discovered me – through my daughter-in-law  – originally 5 years ago – it seemed like it might be a good idea at the time. Why do you continue to practice yoga? And how has your yoga practice shaped or affected your life? Yoga brings me peace – a peace that spills over into my day to day life – not just on my yoga mat.  How does you yoga make you feel? This is the first time that I have been …

  • CSY Walkers Have Their Say!

“Your walking class is giving me a wonderful opportunity to learn how to move into the “cardio zone” properly, without the usual joint strain and bouncing around that comes from running. You are teaching us from the ground up and I am so impressed with how scientific your approach is, even though this is cleverly disguised under the veil of a good time. I am actually having great fun and It feels so good to get outside after a long, hard winter. Finally, you and your personal story are truly inspiring and this provides me with the motivation to “tie …

  • CSY Community: Introducing Dave White

How did you discover yoga and how long have you practiced?  I don’t know if I practice, more like play yoga. I like to have fun. I discovered Yoga quite a few years ago when I was a summer counselor. The yoga teacher was called Ivan the Bender. He was tremendous at teaching us how to relax. I got away from a great deal of it over the years. I always retained the various forms of stress relief that he taught. It was more like a restorative class.   Why do you continue to practice yoga? And how has your …

  • CSY Community : Introducing Helen Hills

How did you discover yoga and how long have you practiced? Yoga has always been a part of my life.  My mother was a yoga teacher.  She is 81 years old and still practices.  It was the 1970s and Nehru jackets and beads were the uniform. She taught yoga teachers, adults, children, and people with special needs.  She was on a yoga mission.  The first class I attended was at a school for intellectually challenged children. I was eight.  I looked different than all the other children and I felt different too.  Every child was much “better” at all the …

HOW DID YOU DISCOVER YOGA AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU PRACTICED? I discovered yoga around 6 years ago while on vacation.  The all inclusive resort offered yoga classes as I had always been curious about yoga I decided to give it a try.  It was a great way to begin the day, thus my journey began. When back from vacation I noticed a sign at the corner of Cornwall and Chartwell advertising CSY I immediately turned around and lucky for me it was open and I signed up on the spot. I have to admit to being nervous and concerned …
